MIXTAPE MONDAYS: DJ Rick Rude

This week’s entry for “Mixtape Mondays” is called “Things You Say” by DJ Rick Rude. It’s almost been a year since Rick Rude was last featured here with his “Casablanca” mixtape. This time around Rick put together a great mix of old school house, disco & indie dance. If you appreciate good music that you rarely get to hear in clubs or on the radio, then this mix is definitely worth listening to. Many thanks to the homie DJ Rick ”Rude Awakening” Rude for providing us with this weeks mixtape entry. Enjoy Knyewtrons…Neva!

Fuku Lunch

For the past few weeks, since Winter started, we’ve been fuku (Japanese for “lucky”) to have the Fuku Burger Truck across the street us during the daytime. Every Tuesday through Thursday, at approximately 11am to 3pm, Fuku Burger has been parking their truck & slanging us Egg Burgers with extra Crack Sauce next to the Bank of America parking lot on Spring Mountain Rd, off Wynn Dr. I stopped through the other day to pick up my usual Knyew-Ku Burger & shoot the shizz with co-owner/head chef Mags & the rest of the Fuku Gang.

In a little bit over a year, Fuku Burger has managed to become a major staple in the Las Vegas community. It’s amazing to see how many friends, fans & followers they’ve accumulated since their opening in Summer 2010. I think it’s very safe to say that Fuku Burger is definitely the people’s choice for one of THE best burgers in Las Vegas, hands down!

Looks like our Knyew-Ku Burger made it to today’s special this week. Even though it’s off the menu, you can order the Knyew-Ku Burger anytime on Fuku Burger‘s secret menu.

KNYEW-KU BURGER: Fuku beef patty, grilled kimchi, bacon, crushed prawn crackers, katsu sauce & their signature Crack Sauce. This is a part of KNYEW history & it’ll remain one of my favorites till the end.

CHICKEN KATSU: Deep fried panko encrusted chicken, shredded cabbage with katsu sauce & wasabi mayo. This is pretty much my go-to-sandwich whenever I want to change it up from my usual Knyew-Ku Burger or Tamago “Egg” Burger.

NAGA DOG: Spicy sausage, grilled kimchi, diced onions, wasabi mayo, topped with crispy nori. Once in a while I feel like having a wiener (no homo). And when I’m craving some sausage (no homo), I go for a Naga Dog.

GARLIC FRIES with CRACK SAUCE: I don’t know what they season these fries with & I couldn’t even tell ya’ what’s in their Crack Sauce. The whole thing is a big fuckin’ mystery but it’s a must-have with any of their burgers. Remember to always order extra Crack Sauce!

I got a chance to snap a few shots of the Fuku-Mobile while it was getting washed next to the Fuku Burger Truck. Almost makes wish I knew how to drive…almost (yes, I’m that typical New Yorker who never learned to drive).

Here’s a video we made last year during our 3 Year Anniversary, when we teamed up with Fuku Burger for a block party celebration & first created the Knyew-Ku Burger. I love the scene where Neva‘s breaking down which Fuku Burger is his favorite. Can’t believe it’s already been another year, crazy. X-Mas at The Hundreds

My last stop in LA was at The Hundreds warehouse with our host David Miyataki & my Asian Dirtbag Caravan: DJ FiveDJ Skratchy  & my brother David. After a brief meeting in The Hundreds conference room, David escorted us to the back warehouse where he laced us with a bunch of gear. Five & Skratchy couldn’t contain their excitement (the look on Five‘s face says it all – see below). Looks like Christmas came early for the Asian Caravan. Illest…Little Tokyo

On my third day in LA, I met up with my Skam Artist fam DJ Five & DJ Skratchy along with my favorite drinking buddy, David Miyataki from The Hundreds, to grab some tonkotsu ramen in Little Tokyo & stop through the Illest shop. I couldn’t be more happy to be carrying Illest at KNYEW & I gotta thank Todd Shimabuku for hooking that up. Also gotta give a shout to the man Vince holding down the fort in Little Tokyo. Be on the look out for a KNYEW x ILLEST collabo dropping sometime in 2012 (no joke). Until next time Knyewtrons…Crooked aka Korean Blow aka Coke Hane signing out!

If you’re ever in Little Tokyo copping some gear at Illest, be sure to make a stop at this bakery Cafe Dulce. All I got to say is “bacon” and “donut”…Korean Blow out!!!
