This weeks entry for “Mixtape Mondays” is an all vinyl set that was recorded live at the legendary APT lounge in NYC by DJ Petey Cologne. Now closed, APT was one of the best “good music” spots in the city to hear some of the illest DJ’s in the industry. Petey recorded this dope mix of funk, classic soul & breaks when he spun a guest set at the ”Like They Used To Say” monthly party hosted by DJECLIPSE & DJ Premier. Many thanks to DJ Petey Cologne for providing us with this week’s entry of Mixtape Mondays. Enjoy Knyewtrons…Neva!
This weeks entry for “Mixtape Mondays” is called “Mick Boogie Tributes Beastie Boys With Grand Royal” by DJ Mick Boogie. In honor of The Beastie Boys recently being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Mick Boogie put together this 80 minute mix of classics, remixes, demos & live versions they put out over the years. Unfortunately last Friday, founding member of the group, Adam “MCA” Yauch, died after a three-year long battle with throat cancer. The news hit me kinda hard cause I’ve been a fan of the group since the beginning. For those of you not familiar with the history of The Beastie Boys, they started out in 1979 as a hardcore punk band that evolved into a hip-hop group. Their 1986 debut on Def Jam “License To Ill” was not only the first hip hop record to top the Billboard 200 but it also helped take rap to the mainstream during a time when critics and older music fans thought rap was just a passing fad. After leaving Def Jam and signing to Capitol records, The Beastie Boys continued to release hit records like Pauls Boutique, Ill Communication, Hello Nasty and last years critically acclaimed Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. If you’re a fan of The Beastie Boys then this mixtape is a must have. Many thanks to DJ Mick Boogie for providing us with this week’s entry & rest in peace to Adam “MCA” Yauch. Enjoy Knyewtrons…Neva!
This weeks entry for “Mixtape Mondays” is called “Yay Game: The Best of E-40″ by Oakland’s own DJ Matthew Africa. This mix is a tribute to the “Ambassador of the Bay” E-40. Many thanks to DJ Matthew Africa for providing us with this week’s entry. Enjoy Knyewtrons… Neva!
This week’s entry for “Mixtape Mondays” is called “A Tribute To Stax, 1959-1968″ by Oakland’s own DJ Crimson. For those of you who don’t know about Stax, it was a record label from the late 50′s that was sometimes called the “southern Motown“. This mix features some of Stax biggest acts (Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Sam & Dave) along with some recognizable samples used in a lot of hip-hop today. With clean cuts and tight mixing, this is one of the best mixtapes I’ve heard in a minute. Even if you’re not into funk/soul, this mix is definitely worth checking out. Big shout to DJ Crimson for providing us with this week’s entry. Enjoy Knyewtrons… Neva!!!

Originally starting out as guest rappers on Camron’s “S.D.E.” album, Dipset wound up turning into one of New York City’s most powerful hip-hop crews. To celebrate the legacy of Harlems own Diplomats, Frank and 7L put together a compilation of Dipset’s best music since they came out on the scene in early 2000. If you’re a fan of Killa Cam, Jim Jones, Freeky Zeeky, & Juelz Santana, then do yourself a favor and download this mix. This week’s entry for “Mixtape Mondays” is called “The Rub Live @ Southpaw” by The Rub. What originally started out as a party in Brooklyn, The Rub evolved into a DJ crew consisting of DJ Ayres, DJ Eleven & Cosmo Baker. Last month The Rub held its last party at the place where it all started at…Southpaw. This Brooklyn bar that’s been hosting “The Rub” party for the past 10 years is closing its doors for good. But don’t worry, The Rub will continue at a new location called Bell House. Until then, you can enjoy this mix of hip hop & club classics recorded live at their final night at Southpaw.
